Ann is an experienced registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 500) as well as a doctoral-level clinical psychologist. Ann completed her initial 200-hour teacher training with Erica Kaufmann in 2004 and has been teaching ever since then. Her classes are characterized by a deeply mindful, alignment-based flow with the fluidity and expressiveness of dance.
Emotion and meaning as well as insights from both Buddhist and Western psychology, inform the flow each time she teaches. In addition to teaching to mainstream populations at Mudra Yoga (mudrayogastudio.com) and Karma Yoga (www.karmayogcenter.com), Ann has developed yoga therapy programs for traumatized teenagers in residential care and has presented nationally on using Lila yoga to address the emotional reactivity and arousal dysregulation in traumatized populations. She has additionally developed and implemented a manualized yoga-based intervention for recently returned veterans presenting with psychological distress at the Veteran’s Administration. Ann serves as guest faculty for various yoga teacher training programs from Denver to Boulder, teaching a module on the Psychology of Yoga.
Ann has studied most intensively and meaningfully with Erica Kaufman, the founder of Lila Yoga; Shannon Paige, known for her deeply thoughtful sequencing; Joan Isbell and Eric Stauffer, dedicated Ashtanga teachers; Michael Stone, an internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism, meditation, and yoga.
